El lamento de Hegel y la voluntad de Saussure: aportes para una interpretación hegeliana del signo saussureano
Abstract
In The Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences published in 1817 Hegel stated “Die Rede und ihr System, die Sprache [Speech and its system, language]”, stablishing for the first time a distinction between language and speech. Furthermore, the German philosopher theorized about the notion of sign and symbol. Saussure’s Course in General Linguistics (1916) presents a series of coincidences with the Hegelian theory about the sign we seek to expose and reveal. Subsequently, our article will be
divided according to these next axis: 1) the sign’s psychic nature; 2) the sign’s definition, arbitrariness and value; 3) the concept of symbol; and 4) language as a system.
Lastly, we shall suggest a Hegelian interpretation of Saussure’s sign, putting special emphasis on the notion of value.
