Abstract

The present study proposes to consider the adverb as indicator of structural differences in the complemented categories. A non-derivational constructionist perspective, with a structural articulation in which the V is disaggregated maximally, allows to identify variables defined in the formation of the verb, through the different predicative relations established between the property designated by the lexical root and the verbal arguments. We distinguish four natural classes according to the semantic-syntactic function of Adv, with two subtypes determined in relation to secondary preaching. These cases are defined with respect to an instance in which Adv does not establish a comparable semantic relationship, either by identifying an alternative of syntactic participation (high application), or by marking relative contrasts to the vP level. Our central concerns are (i) the semantic contribution of the lexical root; (ii) the semantic variables determined by the syntactic configuration where the root is hosted; (iii) certain (potential) extra-grammatical restrictions.
