Within the framework of Biolinguistic Minimalism, the conceptual-intentional interface’s nature, content and place within language design have raised a series of reformulations which have made an impact not only on the relations between language and thought but esentially on the question regarding what language is as well. In this paper, we attempt to deal with the development of the different stages in the formulation of the conceptual-intentional interface in relation to the sesorimotor interface on the one hand and the evolutionary aspects of human language on the other. With regard to this, we not only tackle Chomsky’s developments but also the way in which Hinzen’s arguments have had an effect in the determination of the conceptual-intentional interface’s statue and in the latest Chomskian reflections in his co-written work with Berwick in 2016.
